Background
Hepatitis C infection is caused by the hepatitis C Virus (HCV). It is emerging in Asia as an epidemic of enormous proportion. Some of the countries in the region have the highest hepatitis C disease burden globally e.g. China, India.
However little to no attention has been given to address this problem and the combination of extremely expensive treatment costs and poor understanding of the infection has created a need for greater leadership and an urgent response. Millions of people living with hepatitis C in the developing world are dying. It is time to act!
This webpage, managed by Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV (APN+), is dedicated to the work conducted by the community and civil society in Asia to highlight the epidemic in various fora. This is also intended to serve as a source of information, resource and materials that can be used to advocate for treatment access at national and other levels.
We invite you to engage, contribute and share information on this very important issue. We would appreciate community advocates who would want to contribute directly through managing contents of the page. If you wish to do so, please contact the webmaster at hepcadvocacy@gmail.com
